Does Nancy Hagans and the Board of Directors even know what is going on?
We don’t think so! Do they know how much Judy is still getting paid by the union? Does Nancy know that Pat is taking her direction from Judy? Do they know staff nurses (rank and file members) are getting subpoenaed and being forced to hire attorneys? Do they know how many NYSNA staff are out on disability and why? Do they know how much money is being spent on legal fees? Do they know why Mark Brenner (Judy Sheridan’s hand pick advisor) is still so involved with the running of NYSNA?
Who made the decision to hold failed demonstrations at SIUH, Presbyterian, and Mt. Sinai
There were several very poorly attended rallies for staffing. At SIUH (50 heath care Professionals) that means they weren’t even all nurses, SIUH has over 1500 nurses. Presbyterian (100 nurses) over 4000 nurses work at Prebyterian. Mt. Siani (dozens of nurses) Mt. Siani has over 4000 nurses. By any measure these actions were failures. Why would NYSNA show such a lack of support right before many of us are getting ready for contract negotiations? Maybe its because no one there knows what they are doing!
Lawyers, Lawsuits, and Salaries
NYSNA should stop focusing on Lawyers, lawsuits and their own salaries and start focusing on the nurses. Our dues money is being used to pay attorneys anywhere from $400 per hour to $1000 per hour. How much of our money has been wasted, and continues to be wasted, because of the actions of Pat Kane and Judy Sheridan. Who is in charge of these decisions Nancy and the BoD, or Pat and Judy?
Karen Jarrett has settled her lawsuit for an undisclosed amount. We know that the suit made a one million dollar demand for damages. So how much of our dues money went to this lawsuit alone. We know at least three additional suits were also settled for an undisclosed amount. We hear there are more law suits coming because the attacks on women of color continues. Be aware staff nurses are being subpoenaed in these law suits and have been forced to hire their own attorney’s. Which one of us will be next?
NYSNA’s most significant accomplishment since Pat Kane (also hand pick by Judy Sheridan) took over as Executive Director, raising their own salaries. First and foremost Pat Kane’s salary was raised to close to $300,000 per year, and she managed to embarrass the union with one failed demonstration after another. There are other top bosses who have also received enormous raises. We will publish this information in the near future.
Nancy Hagans and the Board need to stop focusing on the union’s internal issues and start focusing on US the nurses who pay their salaries!
It is clear the union is lacking any real leadership. Staff are quitting or are out on disability. Our contracts aren’t being enforced! The staffing bill, that was passed, isn’t being enforced! We need this situation to change and we need it to change now!
